Īlong the way, I remained in Mojave so that I wouldn't lose functionality with MP. C1 comes about as close to MP as any but is way too complex for my needs. None has the flexibility as a DAM as MP had so many features were missing in every other app that I knew I wouldn't be happy with any of them. So, a couple years ago I started researching alternatives and trialed several packages, including PhotoSupreme, PhotoMechanic, Digikam, Neofinder, Bridge, Elements Organizer, a couple others that I have forgotten, and now Capture One. I am another long time iView/Media Pro user (first purchase was in 2002) and was wary that its lifetime was limited. I will be honest though and say I am sure I didn't give it enough time to properly absorb the paradigm! Could not see a way to determine that right off in PSP. When you click on an image in MP the collections it's in lights up orange. Interface – I try not to knock interfaces til I've lived with them and learned their quirks but I found it to be opaque. Among other things, this means offline annotating is not supported.
The "truth is in the file" rather than the catalog – annotating your images "touches" the actual file rather than maintaining those edits within the catalog file. Hundreds of mpcatalogs, wow – you must be wrangling a ton of images! Photo Mechanic Plus is out of beta and available for purchase, so if you are a long time user and comfortable with the interface it's totally worth a look.
